Laura Pisanu
Archaeologist - Lithic Specialist

Laura is an Italian archaeologist who specialises in Mediterranean archaeology. Laura completed her PhD at Melbourne university on ‘The Bronze and Early Iron Age (16th – 10th century BC) occupation of the south Montiferru and north Campidano regions in Sardinia (Italy): studies on settlement dynamics, social organisation, and Mediterranean networking’.
Before starting her PhD in Melbourne, she worked as an archaeologist in the industrial sector. Laura has taken part in numerous fieldwork activities (excavations, surveys and salvages) in Sardinia, Italy since 2013, from volunteer to supervisory roles.
Laura is experienced in the analysis of both pottery and lithics, which she has studied as part of both her PhD and her previous work and studies. This work involved the analysis, cataloguing, photography and drawing of artefacts.
Laura’s passion for archaeology brought her to Melbourne and she has joined the CWHC as a junior archaeologist with the intent to learn more about Australian archaeology. Laura enjoys playing volleyball and hiking to discover Australian nature.
