Staff Profiles
Isobel is a skilled and dedicated Heritage Advisor, specialising in both historical and Aboriginal cultural heritage. Since starting her career in 2016 she has developed a comprehensive skill set, with particular expertise in historic artefact analysis, cataloguing and heritage management. Her hands-on experience spans a wide range of projects, from inner-city excavations to rural archaeological sites.
Isobel is a historic artefact specialist with a particular interest in the analysis of bone and shell material. She is skilled in artefact photography and has undertaken amateur photography courses to improve this skillset. She has also been involved in the production of both historical and Aboriginal artefact displays. Her career highlights include serving as an Assistant Artefact Manager on a large-scale inner-city excavation project, where she was responsible for the daily coordination of staff, students and community participants.
Isobel has project managed and undertaken fieldwork for numerous CHMPs, as well as leading cultural heritage compliance inductions. She has strong attention to detail, communication skills and dedication to delivering high-quality results. Above all, she is enthusiastic about working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and colleagues to ensure the successful completion of every project.
Isobel's academic background includes a Bachelor of Archaeology with Honours from La Trobe University, where her research focused on paleomagnetic dating of the Makapansgat Limeworks site in South Africa. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Archaeology with a focus on zooarchaeology and human osteology. Committed to continuous learning, Isobel has also completed short courses in Human Osteology at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine and Zooarchaeology at the University of Sheffield.
Outside of work, Isobel enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. Last year, she completed Te Araroa, a 3000 kilometre thru-hike along the length of New Zealand. She is also an avid reader and spends most of her free time reading or listening to audiobooks.
