Staff Profiles
Meg is a Heritage Advisor with over seven years’ experience in project management, excavation, historical research and report writing for both Indigenous and historical archaeological projects. While her work has been primarily based in Victoria, she has also worked on projects in South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.
Prior to joining CHWC, Meg was at a Melbourne-based Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) where she was engaged in the review and evaluation of CHMPs. During her time at this organisation, Meg collaborated closely with Traditional Owners to protect cultural heritage places within the RAP area. Her role also included participating in RAP-led archaeological research and survey work in Westernport and on French Island.
In addition to her indigenous archaeology skills, Meg has experience with historical excavation and monitoring at various sites in Melbourne’s CBD. She has undertaken the historical research required for historic site reports and is competent with navigating the records at the PROV and historical archives. She has also catalogued historic artefact collections, particularly glass assemblages.
Meg’s passion for archaeology was sparked during an undergraduate field school in Israel, leading her to pursue further training. In her free time, Meg volunteers with the Victorian High Country Huts Association, assisting with the ongoing repair of huts across the Victorian Alps. She also enjoys knitting, weaving and sewing and plays hockey for a local club in Brunswick.
