Staff Profiles
Miette has been working throughout Victoria in field assistant and artefact processing roles since 2022. She’s been involved in a variety of projects from rural Ballarat to Melbourne’s CBD, allowing her to explore both Indigenous and historical archaeology. She presented at National Archaeology Student Conference 2023 on ‘Life at the multi-period site of Rabati: What can be understood through the ceramic assemblages of previous excavations’. Having completed her undergraduate degree, she intends to pursue further study in archaeology while undertaking her Honours in 2025.
Miette has participated in two field school excavations overseas. The first in Rabati, Georgia where she was involved in the excavation of burial grounds, gathering of data and post-excavation processing including artefact/pottery drawing. The second in Japan where she assisted in excavating and post-excavation artefact processing.
When not thinking about archaeology, she can be found making art and music, hiking and running.
